Development Economist / Strategic Analyst
John has recently achieved the accredited designation of Associate Member, registered with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, as he works towards attaining further designations. Having worked on both sides of the industry (consultancy and construction delivery), John brings his diverse experience and academic attributes to our team. With experience of project managing residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, John brings a wealth of direct site experience to Aquarius.
John is well versed in the development application procedures required by municipalities in advance of construction and his knowledge in the interpretation of bylaw restrictions, political process and the intricate sequencing of permitting approvals aids in providing the required expertise in navigating the approvals process.
A graduate of the Sauder School of Business (UBC), John’s other skills include real estate evaluations, development feasibility analysis and municipal approvals expertise. He rounds off our team in his ability to provide a wide variety of functions and fulfill a number of roles in a consultant capacity.
During his four year tenure at Aquarius Building Consultants, John has amassed a strategic skill set; specializing within a consultancy capacity in the areas of project finance monitoring, capital reserve fund analysis and real estate development / construction management.
John's essential understandings are emphasized during his many successful project deliveries, where key skills must be maintained to ensure the consistency of success.
A few focal points which emanate from John's capabilities stems from the management of an established business case; where budgeting (as maintained through design, costs and review controls), contract form (addressing adherence and the scope accuracy of contractors), critical path scheduling, site direction while considering financial coordination, budgetary review, progress claims, and cash flow management are the delivery points considered.
John represents our Project Team by functioning as a team research specialist, who largely represents the group through collecting, reviewing and relaying to the other participants the existing or updated technical & regulatory information relative to the Federal & Provincial Legislation and Building Code information to continually apprise all of the Team Members during the performance of their Project Roles; affording them the proper information to integrate and interpret or deliverables as developed..
